Gantry Crane is used to lift extremely heavy objects. For example, in a shipbuilding yard, the gantry crane is used to lift the components e.g., lifting engine and shifting inside the ship compartment. Gantry cranes move on their tracks. The crane is build atop a gantry. These cranes are available in different sizes.

Precautions
The checklist can be used to check the parameters listed below;
- The carne should be in good condition, free of rust, damage, cracks etc.
- The controls should be functional and safe to use.
- All the power sources, wirings should be safe, insulated, covered and away from human reach.
- The lifting mechanism should be available and working properly.
- Safe working load should be visible and mentioned.
- The area around the movement of the crane and load should be barricaded and secured.
- Lifting Accessories should be inspected, maintained, and certified by 3rd party.
- Competent people should be allowed to use the crane.
- Warning light, and safety sings should be used.
- All the people must be wearing PPEs.
- Emergency Stop button, Trip System should be functional.
