Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) services are part of the building design. MEP services are designed by the MEP Engineers who design the whole system and install it within the building structure. The MEP Services are in fact combination of 3 different services including Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing.

These 3 services are integrated so well together that they assist each other to achieve a common goal, as they are elaborated hereunder for better understanding.

  1. The electrical service ensures there is an uninterrupted supply of power to the whole building. All of the services requiring Electricity are continuously in a functional state.
  2. Ventilation, air conditioning, and heating for the whole building for occupants' comfort.
  3. Running water in sinks, toilets, and laundry, and safe disposal of wastewater from sinks, toilets, and laundry.
In short, the MEP services are a basic part of the building design, hence their maintenance is also mandatory. With the passage of time, all 3 services require preventive maintenance. It is mandatory to understand the true meaning of Preventive Maintenance.

What is Preventive Maintenance?

The equipment or appliance can stop working due to unexpected failure during operation. Preventive Maintenance is performed on regular basis to keep the equipment in an operational condition to prevent any unexpected failure during usage. A competent person on regular basis, following a schedule, inspects the whole system and repairs the things which can fail.

It is mandatory to perform the inspection as per approved standard so that a skill-based error is avoided, a properly tailored checklist usage is required.
